Essential Information

Please contact the office of Accessibility Resources  (accessibilityresources@coloradocollege.edu). For additional information, please visit the Accessibility Resources Housing Accommodations webpage. Accessibility Resources will carefully consider each request for accommodations on a case-by-case basis to ensure that students with disabilities have equitable access to the College's housing resources. Housing accommodation requests submitted after published dates will still be considered, however these requests may not be reviewed until after the Housing & Residential Experience room selection process has ended.

For Spiritual and Religious requests, please contact the Chaplin's Office: chaplainsoffice@coloradocollege.edu. For additional information, please visit Spiritual and Religious Accommodations website for more information.

The residential requirement is a critical part of the Colorado College experience. As a result, all students must live on campus for the first three years of their enrollment at CC. Students may apply to live off campus if they meet one or more of the following qualifications:

  • Are married or are same-sex domestic partners as substantiated by the college
  • Have dependent children living with them
  • Will live with their parent(s) or legal guardian in Colorado Springs
  • Are 23 years of age or older
  • Are veterans

Signing a lease without off-campus housing approval does not exempt a student from financial responsibility for an assigned space in campus housing.

Please visit our Off-Campus Living page on our website for more information.

If You Plan to Study Abroad in the Fall Semester
Before Housing Selection:

  • If you know you will be abroad in the fall before the housing process begins, you do not need to apply for a full-year housing assignment.

  • Instead, submit a Spring Only housing application in the Housing Portal starting in September.

  • Spring housing assignments will be made based on available space beginning in mid-December.

After Completing Housing Selection:

  • Your fall housing assignment will be canceled once your study abroad participation is confirmed.

  • You must submit a Spring Only application (available in September).

  • Assignments are based on availability and preferences at the time of placement.

  • You cannot reserve or return to the same space you selected during housing selection.

If You Plan to Study Abroad in the Spring Semester

  • Submit a housing cancellation request for your fall assignment in October or November.

  • Fully move out by the end of fall closing.

  • Apply for housing through the portal for the following academic year.

  • Once your spring abroad participation is confirmed, your spring assignment will be canceled, but your fall assignment remains valid.

If You Change Your Mind About Studying Abroad

  • Once canceled, your original housing assignment cannot be guaranteed.

  • Contact the Residential Experience (ResX) office to request a new assignment.

  • Reassignments are based on current availability at the time of the request.

If You Are Away for Less Than a Full Semester

  • Students away for two blocks or fewer may keep their current housing assignment.

  • Exception: Students away during Blocks 7 & 8, or Block 8 only, must fully move out before departure.

Seniors Studying Abroad in the Fall

  • On-campus housing is not guaranteed for your final spring semester.

  • Priority is given to first-, second-, and third-year students who are required to live on campus.

  • Spring housing for seniors returning from abroad may be limited.
