Room Change Process

Students living on campus may request a room change through the Housing Portal. There are several “waitlists” available for students to join:

  • Single room waitlist
  • Apartment waitlist
  • Senior Housing waitlist
  • Room changes waitlist

**Rates vary by room type**

Once your request has been approved
  • Resident must accept an approved move request within 24 hours, or the request is cancelled
  • Residential Experience staff will email the confirmed move time and move instructions to the approved resident.
  • Take your CCID to the front desk associated with the building to which the resident is moving to. You must complete the move process within 48 hours or you may be charged for both spaces.
    • Front desk staff at your new building will check you in our system.
    • Your CCID will take up to 15 minutes to be activated
    • Collect your new room key.
      • In some cases, you may also receive a door code to have access to your space
    • Move your belongings
  • Once your move has been completed, turn your previous room key into the associated front desk with that residence.
  • If you fail to return your key or properly check out, you could incur an improper checkout fee and/or lost key fee.

Residents may not move to another space without Residential Experience Staff Authorization. If a resident does, they could incur charges and potentially go through conduct process.

Room Change Freeze

There is a room freeze during the first two weeks of each semester. This allows time for staff to identify those who applied but did not show up and to assign students who signed a contract late.

Residents may apply for a waitlist during the freeze and if we are able to accommodate, our team will reach out to the resident once the freeze has ended.

Cost

There is no charge associated with submitting a Room Change Request, however, if we are able to accommodate your request for a change in room type, your per semester cost may change. Please visit our Billing and Fees for the costs.
