Exploring Small Houses for Second and Third-Year Housing: Key Facts

  • Each small house has its own unique character.
  • Many are old mansions converted into residence halls.
  • The cozy, warm atmosphere is an attractive feature, making these buildings among the most desirable living accommodations on campus.
  • Unlike the traditional residence halls, our small houses have no more than 75 residents in a house. They still have the convenience of being close to the action on campus while allowing a more independent feel for upper-class students.
  • Some are on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
  • All of the houses are co-educational, except for Montgomery House, which is exclusively for women.
  • Each house has a central living room for studying and TV, as well as a kitchen, and many have pianos and game tables
