The sociology department at Colorado College has seen quite a few of its graduates pursue advanced degrees in sociology and other related fields. Recently we have placed students in programs at Princeton University, Indiana University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Maryland-College Park, and Stanford.

Funding Graduate School

Graduate school can be expensive! Here is an incomplete list of scholarships available to help ease that burden. In addition to this list, you should research scholarships particular to the degree or field you are interested in pursuing.

Beinecke Brothers Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for graduate school in humanities and social sciences. Available to students with at least a 3.7 GPA interested in graduate school in the humanities and social sciences with a documented history of need-based financial aid.

The Gates Cambridge Trust Scholarship

Full-cost scholarships to pursue a graduate degree at Cambridge University available to outstanding students from outside the UK.

Available to: Seniors


George J. Mitchell Scholarship

One year of post graduate study in Ireland/Northern Ireland in any discipline. Covers tuition, housing, a living expenses stipend, and international travel.

Harry Truman Scholarship Foundation

$30,000 for graduate study available to Colorado College juniors and intend to pursue a career in government / public service and whose GPA places them in the upper quarter of their class.

Marshall Scholarship

Two years at any British college or university. Available to Colorado College Graduates in the past three years who have proven intellectual and academic achievement as well as active involvement in their community; U.S. citizen, GPA 3.8 or above.
