I was also the Co-Chair of the Colorado Youth Diversity Conference, where I designed and facilitated a space for youth across Colorado to come together and organize around creating change in their local communities. Besides being a Bonner fellow, I compete on the Speech and Debate team and play saxophone in the Concert Band.  I hope to use my passion and experience to engage in communities across the Colorado Springs community!

Melissa Ramirez '26
Email: m_ramirez@ColoradoCollege.edu

Hometown: Chicago, IL
Major: Film and Media Studies

Bio: CHi! My name is Melissa Ramirez and I’m a second-year Bonner! Beyond academics, I enjoy watching TV/films, reading novels, exploring scenic spots, practicing pilates, painting, and trying tasty new foods. Outside CC, I reside in Illinois with my parents, an older brother, and a lively bunch of pets. As a Mexican-American, I cherish my Hispanic culture and actively immerse myself in it—savoring diverse foods, participating in cultural festivities, and reveling in various music genres. Since starting my partnership with Food to Power, I have never been more excited to go to work! I love my coworkers, meeting new people, and creating new projects for them. Working with FTP has made it possible for me to interact with many people, especially those less fortunate, and it has been a very humbling experience. By providing food and support services, I can contribute to the dignity and well-being of marginalized groups which is the most important goal that I desire to fulfill. I can’t wait to see what my future holds as I continue working with Food to Power!
