Evelyn Bridges Poetry Contest

Accepting previously unpublished poetry.


[1] Contestants must be Colorado College students, enrolled in the academic year in which the contest occurs. Poems may be of any form, versification (including free verse), genre (spoken word, lyric, dramatic, narrative, etc.), and topic.

[2] Contestants may submit one to ten poems, as long as the total number of lines does not exceed five hundred. The awards will be made on the basis of the quality of all the poetry that each person submits.

[3] Please number the pages and check spelling and punctuation. Margins must be 1 ½ inch margin at left and 1 inch margin at right, top and bottom.

[4] Save your entry as a PDF or DOC/X. Your name should not appear on the document.

[5] The deadline for submitting poems is February 22, 2023 by 5 pm (last Wednesday, Block 5).

[6] Winning poems may be printed in the Leviathan. Your entry in the contest implies your permission.

The Adelaide Bender Reville Prose Contests

The Reville Prize for Creative Nonfiction

Accepting previously unpublished works of creative nonfiction, personal and memoir-style essays, flash nonfiction, and lyrical essays. This DOES NOT include reportage, news articles, blog posts, or similar work.

[1] Any Colorado College undergraduate may participate. Only one essay (up to 10,000 words) or three to five flash/micro non-fiction pieces per student (500 word max for each flash/micro fiction piece). If submitting flash/micro pieces, clearly title each new story or add an asterisk to the end of each story to signify a new work will follow.

[2] Please number the pages and check spelling and punctuation. Margins should be 1½ inch at left and 1 inch margins at right, top and bottom. Do not include your name on the entry itself.

[3] Save the document with the title of your essay or the first essay of your short pieces. DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME IN THE FILE NAME. Save your entry as a PDF or DOC/X.

Judged by Caitlin Barasch

Born and raised in New York, Caitlin Barasch earned her BA from Colorado College and her MFA from New York University, where she also taught creative writing. Her work has appeared in over a dozen publications, and her debut novel "A Novel Obsession" was published in early 2022. 

 


The Krutzke Award

$500 Prize

At the end of the academic year, the Senior Majors Committee selects the outstanding critical essay from among the projects written during the year in English Department Senior Seminars or Project blocks as the recipient of the Krutzke Award (in honor of the late Professor Frank Krutzke).
