Join us for Family Weekend!

We cannot wait to welcome our Tiger families back to campus for Family Weekend, one of our favorite traditions at Colorado College.

This is your invitation to step into your student’s world for the weekend. Sit in on a Micro Block class, wander our beautiful campus, explore Colorado Springs, experience campus events firsthand, and connect with the families, faculty, and staff who make the CC community so special.

See you soon, Tiger families.

Why come back for Family Weekend?

Because there is nothing quite like being here together!

By this point in the year, the pace of college life has settled in. The excitement of a new academic year has settled, blockly routines have taken shape, and for many students, the comforts of home are starting to feel a little nostalgic. Whether they say it or not, they will be so happy to see you.

So why not bring a bit of home to them?

It's time to reconnect

Family Weekend is meant to feel easy, fun, and genuinely meaningful. It is your time to reconnect, share a couple of delicious meals, and enjoy the kind of quality time that is hard to come by during the busy academic year. Get a glimpse into your student’s experience on Saturday morning while they are still sleeping, then spend the rest of the day doing whatever you love most together before joining us that evening for a grand celebration at Trainwreck.

We have intentionally designed the schedule with space to breathe, giving you time to explore, relax, and make the weekend your own. Our planned events are there to complement that experience, offering a thoughtful mix of opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate alongside other CC families.

Looking for ideas of things to do or places to go in between events? Explore our curated list of local favorites, handpicked by your team in Parent and Family Engagement.

Event Access and Attendance

All events are first-come, first-served. It is important to note that adding an event to your registration helps us anticipate attendance but does not guarantee entry.

If there is something you are especially excited about, we recommend arriving early, particularly for events with limited capacity. These will be clearly noted in the schedule so you can plan ahead.

Ebola, 2026
The Ebola Virus and its relatives have caused several deadly epidemics in the 21st century. Biologists have worked hard to develop a toolkit for limiting any new outbreaks that occur. What is the biology behind Ebola Fever Disease vaccines and treatments? This class will teach you about Ebola viruses and technologies to combat outbreaks.
Presented by Phoebe Lostroh
Associate Professor, Molecular Biology

Narrative Medicine: What is it, and Why Does it Matter?
Through narrative medicine, medical professionals read and interpret the stories of patients, their bodies, and their cultural contexts. Narrative skills are essential to equitable, rigorous medical care, diagnosis and treatment. We'll look at imagery, character types, and subtext through film and TV including "Magnificent Obsession" and "The Pitt", demonstrating the value of narrative medicine to better patient outcomes.
Presented by George Butte
Professor, English

Anatomy of Movement: Teaching an Anatomy Course for Every Body
Anatomy courses are a requirement for most students considering a career in the medical profession. The way anatomy is taught at most universities hasn’t changed significantly for decades, relying on memorization from dry textbooks. In this micro-block, you’ll learn how CC’s Human Biology and Kinesiology department has stepped out of that pattern, helping students learn required material in an interesting way.
Presented by Dan Miska
Senior Lecturer, Human Biology & Kinesiology

The Double-Edged Sword of AI
Like any powerful tool, AI can be both dangerous and helpful. In true liberal arts fashion, Professor Johnson will explore that complexity with examples from his own economics/policy research, from approaches he uses with students in the classroom, and (perhaps most valuably) in the blending of teaching with research.
Presented by Dan Johnson
Professor, Economics & Business

What Leonardo da Vinci Can Teach Us About Judging
What do judges do when they interpret the law? Why is it nonsense to say that judges should not “legislate from the bench”? To answer these questions, we will discuss leading theories of constitutional interpretation and judicial decision-making. We will apply these theories to analyze da Vinci’s famous painting “The Last Supper.” And then we will apply our analysis of the painting to help us understand some recent decisions of the Supreme Court. In our discussion of the Court, we will address (among other things) the majority’s current use of “history and tradition” in its decisions.
Presented by Doug Edlin
Professor, McHugh Chair, and Department Chair – Political Science

Understanding the Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was a pivotal moment in the liberal tradition. We’ll talk about how modern historical context helps us understand the Declaration.
Presented by Tim Fuller
Professor, Political Science

Shove Chapel: History and People
Shove Memorial Chapel is a place of hospitality and community for CC. Every day, light filters in through our beautiful windows in new and unexpected ways, inviting space for contemplation, meditation, prayer, music, lectures, community-building and meaningful conversation. Come learn this Homecoming about Shove’s history and people, as you take a moment to pause in the busyness of the weekend.
Presented by Kate Holbrook
College Chaplain

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attecks.

What began as an average day in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, turned into an international sleepover when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander welcomed the stranded travelers with music, an open bar, and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

Based on an extraordinary true story, this Tony Award-winning musical is filled with traditional Irish folk music and chronicles how this isolated town in Newfoundland played host to the world in a true celebration of hope, humanity, and unity.

Family Weekend attendees can use promo code FamilyCFA to receive Buy One, Get One Free or 50% off tickets. Tickets are not included in Family Weekend registration, and can be purchased here.

5 – 8 p.m. | CC Family Night Out at Trainwreck

Celebrate Family Weekend at Trainwreck, one of our most popular events each year. Enjoy an evening of great food, dessert, and one included beverage, along with unlimited access to golf simulators, arcade games, billiards, and more. It is a lively and memorable way to gather with fellow families and show your Tiger spirit.

Please note children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Trainwreck is 18 and older after 8 p.m. and 21 and older after 10 p.m.
