Guide Trips for CCOE

Outdoor Education is restructuring the Student Trip Leader position. The new structure includes 4 positions that will assist OE Professional Staff to develop and implement trips. Any current Trip Leaders must apply, interview, and be selected for a new Guide position to continue to lead trips.

Students must be a current CCOE certified Trip Leader to be considered for a Guide Position. The new Guide positions follow a progression of increasing responsibilities and more clearly outline the roles of each person assigned to a trip.

Getting Started

Outdoor Education's Guide Training course is the first step in the process to leading trips for CCOE. Guide training is open to all Colorado College students with an interest in exploring the outdoors. Through a blend of classroom instruction and practical field experiences, this course develops participants technical outdoor skills and explores the foundations of outdoor education, group facilitation, and environmental ethics. Participants will receive certifications in CPR, Wilderness First Aid, and Leave No Trace. After completing Guide Training, participants are eligible to apply for an Apprentice Guide position to continue their development.
