INTERMEZZO SEASON: Imani Winds

IMG_1487-Imani-Winds-May-11-concert-standing.jpg

Grammy-nominated Imani Winds performed in Packard Hall on May 11 in front of a packed house. The program, De Memorias: A Latin Perspective, focused on Latin American composers. The members of Imani Winds each took time to discuss the program and in particular highlighted the background of the Cuban composers Paquito D'Rivera and Tania León, and their pieces La Fleur de Cayenne, and De Memorias, both complicated compositions to play but ones that clearly evoke the personal memories of the composers' lives in Cuba.

Liz Mann

"CCMF is the most unique, and outstanding festival. The level of musicians is extraordinary, both faculty and students, but what makes it so unusual, is the intimate environment of learning for the students. There is no other festival quite like it, and it is a joy to be a faculty member."

Liz Mann, flute, Faculty Artist
