In 1980, Colorado College hosted the first national championship for women’s soccer, two years before the NCAA, and at a moment without a domestic professional league for competitive players. Students in the Rise of American Sport, and American Sport and Society courses proved with archival work that CC was central to organizing local, regional, and national tournaments for women players across the country at the onset of the sport. Institutional legends earned five Final Four appearances and two-national runner-up finishes and were awarded roughly twenty-four All American honors from 1980-1991.
Join Prof. Jamal Ratchford for an inspiring discussion with our returning CC soccer legends as they share their experiences and insights. Panelists include the founder of our legendary program in Stephen Paul, M.D., All-Conference Player Judy Sondermann, and All-Americans Karen Willoughby and Charry Morris.

Shove Memorial Chapel
Help create a community ofrenda (altar) in Shove Memorial Chapel with the Chaplain's Office and student groups during Homecoming Weekend. The ofrenda for Día de Muertos is an opportunity to intentionally remember, celebrate, and honor loved ones who have died as well as recognize personal, national, and global loss. All are welcome to bring a picture and/or send a picture (or name) of classmates and family members to chaplainsoffice@coloradocollege.edu by 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 to be placed on the ofrenda in their memory. Signage at each location includes a QR code for riders/walkers to access the online audio tour with detailed information about each location. Participation in the guided ride is limited, but everyone can ride or walk the tour independently at their leisure. Participants will share introductions, a tour, and a mini service project. Please wear clothes you can get a little dirty, and bring water to drink. This community park was developed under the leadership of several Colorado College Alumni and is a national model for public/private partnerships, serving the neighboring low-income neighborhood with no cost programs.
