Syllabus Development
A good syllabus provides structure and resources for students. The links below offer a few ways to think about the organization of your own syllabi. Thank you to the faculty who have allowed us to share these models!
- The Science of Microaggressions - Peony Fhagen
- Introduction to K-12 Classroom Culture - Tina Valtierra
- Listening to Music - Ryan Bañagale & Lidia Chang
DocuGuides
DocuGuides are pdf documents that provide information about teaching tools, pedagogical approaches, and student development along with references and links to additional resources. These documents are designed to orient educators to tools, approaches, and topics that will expand their teaching toolkits.
If you have an idea for a DocuGuide topic or would like to curate one, please contact the Director of the Crown Center for Teaching, Ryan Bañagale (rbanagale@coloradocollege.edu).
Partner Resources
The Career Center provides resources for faculty to help students connect their liberal arts experiences to their professional journeys.
The Center for Global Education & Field Study empowers and supports the CC community to engage in intercultural, international, and experiential learning by leveraging the opportunities of the Block Plan. We support students who study off-campus domestically, internationally, and on field study programs unique to the Block Plan, as well as faculty who lead students on off-campus programs.
Interested in community-based teaching? The Collaborative for Community Engagement (CCE) can help! Their mission is to… “co-create community-engaged learning experiences to develop students into engaged citizens who invest their liberal arts education in the public good.” See the Faculty Guide to Community-Engaged Learning at CC for more information.
The Colket Center for Academic Excellence facilitates student learning, cultivates intellectual community, and supports students in developing skills they can apply broadly across and beyond the curriculum.
The Academic Engagement program at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College works with faculty to integrate the FAC’s exhibitions, permanent collection, hands-on learning opportunities, and theater performances into courses across disciplines. Contact the Academic Engagement Manager, Blair Huff (bhuff@coloroadocollege.edu), for more information.
The Advising Hub works to empower every student to thrive in the immersive environment of the Block Plan and to articulate the meaning and purpose of their liberal arts education.
