An illustrated discussion of collections on indigenous and colonial experience in New Zealand. Speakers are Stuart and Jean Strachan, leaders in the preservation of Aoteoroa/New Zealand's bicultural heritage. (Aoteoroa is the Maori word for New Zealand.)

Stuart, the island nation's first professionally trained archivist, was for three decades Librarian of the Hocken Collections, a national treasure and major historical repository located in Dunedin at the University of Otago; Jean was Director of Dunedin Public Libraries' research collection, the McNabb Library. The Strachans will reflect on the roles of archivy and preservation in making and writing historical and contemporary identities.
