For Bookface you strategically line up your face or part of your body alongside a book cover. By matching body part to book there is a melding of life and art. For several years, librarians and book lovers have posted their photos weekly on visual apps using the caption #BookfaceFriday.

Morgan Holzer from New York Public Library started using that hashtag in 2014. She was inspired by the viral success of Sleeveface, a similar practice with record covers created by Carl Morris, a D.J. in Wales. Holzer "wanted to find something that wasn't just us pushing content out into the world, but that other libraries could participate in."

Use the hashtag or search for bookface in your favorite browser. You will be delighted with the images.

It is entitled Paula Modersohn-Becker: Self-portrait and authored by J. Diane Radycki. We have J. Diane Radycki's longer book in the library.
