Performance Evaluation Timeline & Resources

Employees are one of CC’s most valuable assets. As an employee, we want to ensure you have the opportunity for a dedicated conversation with your supervisor to review your performance and work contributions over the last year. The conversation is intended to reflect on successes and celebrate accomplishments, discuss challenges that may have affected performance, and to reaffirm that the work you will accomplish in 2023-24 aligns with the college’s mission and department goals.

For supervisors, effective performance management should create a shared understanding of goals for the upcoming year and what individuals on your team need to be successful. Effective evaluations help establish a common language around behaviors and skills.

Completing the self-review is your opportunity to provide input into your evaluation. Highlight 3-5 of your accomplishments that you believe are the most indicative of your contributions to the college's vision, mission, and strategic priorities. More information can be found here.

Setting goals and priorities for the work you will do next year is an important part of the annual evaluation process. As you look ahead, setting SMART Goals can help you ensure your work is focused and achievable, but remember that these goals should still be flexible enough that you can adapt them to changing priorities. Revisit them throughout the year and update as needed.

Locke and Latham's Goal Setting Theory identified five key principles that support the creation of effective and motivational goals.

The annual performance evaluation is the best opportunity for you to communicate with your supervisor about ways they can help you be more successful next year. Here are seven things you can request during your development conversation.
