Are job interviews happening in-person or online?
Hiring managers are responsible for coordinating interviews, but in general, first interviews are usually by phone with follow-up interviews on campus or by video conference.

What if I don't feel well on the day of my in-person interview?
If you are sick on the day of your interview, please contact the hiring manager to reschedule. No employee or guest should come to campus ill.

Are the positions you are hiring for required to work on campus or can I work from home?
Almost all positions at CC are primarily on campus, but supervisors have authority to allow remote work and flexible schedules if it benefits the college, the department, and the employee. All departments must have offices open and staffed during business hours.

Hiring Managers and New Employees

What is best practice for interviewing during a COVID-19 outbreak?
In order to limit trips to campus, an option for hiring managers is to replace in-person interviews with phone or video interviews over Zoom. Please contact Matt Cherry if you need more guidance.

When can new employees begin working?
Once a new candidate has accepted an offer and cleared a background check, the hiring manager can work with HR on a start date. It can generally be as soon as a week after the cleared background check.

How do I ensure a new hire's I-9 is properly processed if my I-9 coordinator is working from home or my new hire will be teleworking?
The I-9 requires that new hires have their documents inspected in-person so a visit to the HR Department by your new employee is required. HR will work with all new employees to get their new employee documents, including the I-9, once they have accepted an offer and cleared the background check. Are new employee orientations available during COVID-19?
CC's new employee orientations, CCNew, will continue to take place via an online portal. Other orientation events are scheduled as in-person or Zoom as the situation allows.
