Feminist & Gender Studies is proud to announce Sally Hedderman (Political Science major and Feminist & Gender Studies minor '21) was recently awarded a fellowship at the Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) in Denver, CO through the Colorado College Public Interest Fellowship Program (PIFP).
DSF aims to inspire and empower Denver Public Schools’ students to "enroll in and graduate from postsecondary institutions of higher education, by providing the tools, knowledge, and financial resources essential for success." Their nationally-recognized three-part program for success, which focuses on college access, scholarships, and college success, resulted in reaching over 3,000 seniors during the 2018-2019 academic year; awarding over $40 million in scholarships to over 7,000 scholars, including almost 3,000 graduates; and ensuring 80% of all DSF scholars (mostly first-generation scholars) graduate or continue to succeed in their program.
As a College Advisor Fellow, Sally will support and execute DSF's college access programming by working with students individually and collectively; deliver college admissions, scholarship, and financial aid presentations; serve as a student advocate and coach; and represent DSF at various events and programs.
Congratulations, Sally! We are so proud to know you!
