This documentary offers rare interviews with over 15 major Asian-Pacific American women poets.  Organized in interwoven sections such as Immigration, Language, Family, Memory, and Spirituality, it is a sophisticated merging of Asian-American history and identity.

This engaging documentary serves as poetry reading, virtual anthology and, perhaps most importantly, a moving testimony about gender, ethnicity, aesthestics, and creative choice.  The carefully edited interviews and poems read reflect the filmmaker's desire to show both individual voice and diversity within the Asian-American women's community.

Film of the Block for Block 6, 2021: The Revival: Women and the Word (view online)

This documentary chronicles the US tour of a group of Black lesbian poets and musicians, who become present-day stewards of a historical movement to build community among queer women of color.  Their journey to strengthen their community is enriched by insightful interviews with leading Black feminist thinkers and historians.  As the group tours the country, the film reveals their aspirations and triumphs, as well as the unique identity challenges they face encompassing gender, race and sexuality.  This is a rarely seen look into a special sisterhood-one where marginalized voices are both heard and respected.
