Feminist and Gender Studies is proud to share that Jazlyn Andrews ’17 will be starting a PhD program in the Department of Film and Media at UC Berkeley this fall. The UC Berkeley Department of Film and Media “offers innovative, interdisciplinary programs leading to a B.A. in Film and a Ph.D. in Film & Media. It also provides curricular support for the Designated Emphasis in Film Studies for doctoral students in other departments. The Department teaches students to think historically, theoretically, and analytically about film and media within the broad context of humanistic studies. Students and faculty engage with all forms of moving-image culture, including film, still photography, television, and digital media. The Department also offers courses in screenwriting, curating, and digital video production.” Jazlyn is especially excited about the interdisciplinarity of the PhD program, the freedom that it gives students to explore their own interests and take classes in multiple fields. She is planning on combining her studies in Film and Media with a Designated Emphasis in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and is eager to build upon the academic foundation that she received as an FGS student at CC.
Congratulations, Jazlyn! We are so proud to know you!
