Eliza Edens Densmore '15 recently released her second album, We'll Become the Flowers, and it's available to order now via Bandcamp on CD and vinyl or as a digital download.

Densmore, who uses her middle name Edens for her stage name, majored in film and new media studies and minored in music at CC. She now lives in Brooklyn. Since graduating, Edens has been "chipping away" at an independent music career in the Northeast while also teaching some private lessons (piano and guitar, and some songwriting).

Edens said the wide variety of classes she took through the CC Music Department — everything from Mozart to jazz history, bluegrass and American folk music to experimental music to the mathematics of music — helped lay a solid foundation for her music career.

"I was exposed to so many different styles and genres, and I've ended up referencing all of that musical vocabulary, either directly or indirectly, in my work as a songwriter and producer of my own music," she said. "Receiving that comprehensive background helped me grow more confident as a musician."

She said all of her past instructors have contributed to her success, but most notably former principal voice instructor Dan Fosha.

"I was encouraged to sing everything from jazz to classical to Joni Mitchell songs, which deepened my listening skills and expanded my vocal capacity," she said. "My professors and instructors in the music department at CC were deeply passionate and encouraged boundless musical curiosity which helped shape me into a more dynamic and innovative musician, performer, and educator."

This new album follows her 2020 release, Time Away From Time. Read more reviews about We'll Become the Flowers from Paste Magazine and Folk Radio UK.

Edens said tour dates are in the works beginning in early 2023, and she hopes to be able to make stops along the West Coast and in Colorado.
