Sam Bronfman

B.A., Williams College

Sam is a co-founder and managing partner of Bacchus Capital Management, an investment firm providing strategic capital and making private equity investments in the U.S. wine industry. Prior to founding Bacchus, Sam successfully led the premium wine division of the Seagram Company and served as the chairman of Diageo Global Wines. From 1996 to 2001, Sam was president of Seagram Chateau & Estate Wines Company, as well as a director of the Seagram Company, Ltd. Sam maintains leadership roles in both non-profit groups and wine industry professional organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Colorado College, Vail Colorado Health Services Executive Committee, and as a trustee of the Vail Health Foundation Board. He is also a Trustee of the Vail Valley Foundation. He is a recent past Executive Committee member of the Deerfield Academy Board of Trustees, past board chair of the Cancer Prevention Institute of California, and past chairman of the California Wine Institute. Sam graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College in 1975. He was sports editor of the Williams Record and earned varsity letters in tennis and basketball. Sam is married with five children ranging in age from 36 to 22 and a daughter-in-law. He and his wife Kelly's principal residence is in Edwards, Colorado. They have a home in California as well. He loves to play golf and ski and, with his wife, is involved in a variety of not-for-profit organizations, including Walking Mountain Science Center and the Eagle Valley Land Trust.
