At CC, Bob was a Beta Theta Pi and class president. Until recently, he served as president of Davis Instruments Corporation in Hayward, California, a manufacturer of weather monitoring devices, a vehicle monitoring system, and a marine line of safety, navigational, and other products for boaters and fishermen. He served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Marine Products and Services. Bob established the Robert W. and Joyce A. Selig International Affairs Fund and the Selig Fund for Global Studies at CC to support international studies and study abroad. He served as Bay Area Campaign co-chair (1986-1989), Bay Area Alumni Club chair (1989), National Alumni Council member (1987-1990; 1991-1994), Post-Campaign Leadership Committee (1989), and Development Leadership Committee (1989-1993), and hosts both the popular "Books on the Beach" alumni event and the Bay Area Student Send-off (since 1983). He received the Lloyd E. Worner Award in 1996 and the National Alumni Council Distinguished Service Award in 1991. He became a member of the William Jackson Palmer Founders Society in 2010.
