Interview Tips
We're pleased that you will be interviewing with Colorado College! As interviews are a mutual exchange of information, this is an excellent opportunity for us to learn more about you and for you to learn more about the college. We will interview the student only, but there will be time after the interview for families to ask questions. Interviews typically last 30 - 45 minutes. A trained admission fellow, CC alumnus/alumna, or a member of the admission staff will conduct your interview. The following tips will help you better prepare for a thoughtful and productive interview.
-
The most important thing to remember is to be yourself! Often, it's difficult to present yourself genuinely under pressured situations, but if you are able to, it helps us get to truly know you and share the wonderful aspects of CC that would be most appealing to you.
-
Dress is casual. Please wear something you are comfortable in.
-
Learn about CC (read our viewbook, surf the CC website, etc.) and prepare your questions ahead of time. You will have about 10 minutes at the end of your interview to ask questions.
-
While interviews are not required, they will be used in the evaluation of an application for those students who have the opportunity to interview. If you have the chance to interview, we highly recommend you take it. It is unlikely to hurt your chances.
-
Prepare to discuss your high school experience in an academic context.
-
Prepare to discuss your life outside the classroom. Think about the things you do that are most important to you.
-
Let both your academic and other passions shine through! Although the interview does have the feeling of a conversation, don't be afraid to direct it yourself. Find what topic you like to talk about and tell us more!
