RM214 - Comparative Imperialisms: Empire, Nation-Building and World's Fairs and Expositions

Critical interrogation of U.S. imperialism and its enduring legacies through an examination of the shared experiences of colonization, conquest, displacement, and genocide among Filipinos, Puerto Ricans, and Native Hawaiians. To accomplish this, we will investigate a number of sites and contexts central to the relationship between empire-building and nation-building including, U.S. military installations, world’s fairs and expositions, and tourism.
